Why are you so awesome? More pictures of you being cool, please? (:
Haha thanks! 😀
Your work is absolutely stunning! I really… just don’t have any words for how awe-inspired I am right now. Good luck in everything you do; you’re going to go very far! 🙂
Thank you so much! 🙂
Love your work. Go Nordics!
Terve! Very good designs
Terve! Thank you 🙂
Hei! I stumbled upon your work on a blog that had your Disney pictures… and, when I saw your name, figured that you’re Finnish. In any case, good work! 🙂
Hei! Yep, a proud Finn here 😉 Thanks!
LOVE your work! Would be interested in seeing what Anastasia from Disney would look like. 🙂
Anastasia and Drizella would be awesome, haha
Your work is stunning. I love the Disney Princesses, which is how I discovered you and your blog, but I also am enjoying looking through your portfolio. You’re incredible talented and I can see that you have a future career. I can’t wait to see what you come up with next!
Thank you so much 🙂
I’m from Spain, and I found this blog messin’ around the web.
You make a great work, your photos and logos are awesome.
I followed you here from an article i saw on yahoo news
I adore your disney works and would love to see before and afters either way amazing work ❤
Thanks 🙂 But there is no before and after when it comes to these. It’s an empty file and then the after shot 😀
I just found your work and its gorgeous! I am a huge disney fan and loooove how you did the Disney Princesses. They are wonderful! You have a great talent!
Thank you 🙂
Hello, my name is Esperanza… I found your work on yahoo and absolutely fell inlove with your work. I was wondering if you can send me prices and info on it. Please let me know.
Thank you soo much
Hello! I am not in the process of selling these, sinceI’m pretty sure there would be a copyright issue selling something so heavily influenced by Disney.
Completely understandable.. 😦
How would I go about getting one of these done from you.. I absolutely fell in love with the work
Mate, I reckon we’ll see much more of your work in the future 🙂 Guessing you’ll get snapped up very soon.
Hopefully so! Still got my last year at uni to finish though 😉
Your work is extraordinary. I know the cost for you to design a logo is pricey and rightly so. Can’t wait to see other princesses such as Tiana and Rapunzel along with maybe some (or even all of them and their friends) of the Disney Faires.
How would you pronounce your last name? =] and wow you’re from Finland! that’s cool! do you know this Finnish artist, Jo Stance? for the first time, i listened to a Finnish artist and now I’m look at artwork made by a Finnish artist!
I dont really know how to tell you how to pronounce my last name just by typing it 😀 I’m not familiar with her work, though. Thanks for your comment 🙂
please please PLEASE make some more real-life Disney Princesses! 😀
I really love your work especially the pics of the disney princess..keep up the good work!!
Thanks! Glad you like my work 🙂
Hello! I just wanted to say your Disney works are amazing! 😀 And I wanted to know if it would be alright to share them on my blog with proper credit to you of course?
Hi! Thank you 🙂 And of course you can!
Whoa you’re talented and hot!!!
Haha thanks 😀
Hi! I saw your interpretation of Disney princesses on yahoo! and they are awesome. My fave princess is Jasmine and you nailed it! I love it. Thank you for doing and sharing that. Keep it up!
Thanks! Glad you like it!

I saw your work on Yahoo! UK and I have to say it is absolutely outstanding, incredibly talented stuff, please keep it up and good luck with your studies. Would love to tweet about your blog if that’s OK?
Hi there! Thank you so much! And feel free to tweet about my blog, that would be much appreciated 🙂
WOW you do amazingly beautiful work! You are so extremely talented and I wish you the best of luck with all your schooling. I can’t wait to see what you come out with next.
Cinderella was always my favorite 🙂 but I love your Ursula and Disney does have stunning villains that are ladies, I would love to see your darker side 🙂 Keep it coming!!!
Wow! I am so glad I clicked that link that my friend posted on FB about the post on Yahoo! You are super talented! I saw another artist do Disney “princes” and it was a little uhmmm risque. It is nice to see that someone has done the Disney princesses. Jasmine is absolutely stunning. Your work is inspiring (that elk logo is pretty cool!). If I had the motivation, I’d get back into graphic design.
hi! I just saw that U love designing LOGOS? Uhm can u make one logo for me? I guess U’re talented for that here’s my personal blog: http://www.hausofdennlevy.tumblr.com/ you can have some ideas there.. 🙂
Thanks for the comment! But unfortunately I am extremely busy at the moment and can’t take on too many projects! Cool blog though 🙂
thank you! 🙂 No problem! 🙂
[…] Meet Jirka Väätäinen, a native of Finland as well as a graphic arts student at the Arts University College at Bournemouth in the United Kingdom. In an interview with Joanna Douglas from Shine from Yahoo, Jirka says, I’ve always been interested in the way people look and what makes them unique in their appearances. This was a personal challenge for me to see if I could recreate characters that we all know and love, and try to maintain their unique features. The end results are what I would imagine the characters to look like in ‘real life,’ while still staying somewhat true to the unrealistic quirks in their original character designs. […]
Hi Dear, I read about your work on Yahoo!
Its really a very creative idea and very amazing piece of work.
I greatly appreciate your great work.
If I want to touch you through email, is it possible for you to reply me on email?
Thanks! Yes, feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Jirka, great work! It’s very nice to see those familiar characters (I have 2 daughters) in a realistic rendition. Would love to see more of them, although I imagine your last year at uni will be pretty busy.
There are so many characters to choose from, and I guess everyone has their favourites. I know a lot of people would greatly appreciate you continuing these works. Maybe you can get a deal with Disney and actually get paid for it 😉

E devo dire che il risultato è stupefacente! Ecco a voi come Ceneretola sarebbe nel mondo reale! […]
Please Please Please Please make more Disney princesses! They are truly amazing I absolutely love them! Maybe making princesses in their classic dresses would be very interesting or the princesses with their princes. Also make and Ariel! She’s the only one missing!!!
Glad you like them! I haven’t got many princesses left to make… Ariel was my first “princess” so you should be able to find her if you browse a bit more 🙂 But unfortunately I wont be making the princesses in their classic gowns I am afraid… and I don’t think I will be doing the princes either. Thanks for the suggestions though 🙂
Ohmyg. Just like others are your inspiration, you are one of mine. I am a student working up to beyond the level of Graphic Design and Motion Graphics. I love your work! Keep working hard sir, its all just amazing.
Just wanted to say that your work is brilliant! Thank you for bringing a smile to the inner Disney Princess in me! 😉 But also, your design & photography is pretty great too. Keep it up!
Love your art!! ❤
found an article about princessess in russian web
I was wondering if you can get prints of the princesses and how much they would cost.
Unfortunately, I am not selling prints of these at the moment.
Hi there. I have always appreciated creative photography work. I really like your interpretation of real life Disney princesses. I’m waiting for your interpretation of Aurora (Sleeping Beauty). Also, I love the Pocahontas picture the best – is the lady portraying Pocahontas a true Native Indian because she looks like she is a mixture of Japanese and another race. Just curious. It’s all good. I would love to visit your part of the world. Best wishes as you continue your work – you may have an interesting career ahead of you.
Hi! Thanks, I’m glad you like my work. You should be able to find my interpretation of Aurora on this blog already. I have used elements from various different people to come up with my version of Pocahontas. So basically it is a mixture of different races 🙂
I love your Disney princesses art! ❤
Can you please draw more Disney heroines? 😀
Thank you! I will try to find time to make more in the future.
I know you said that you aren’t selling prints of the Disney princesses at the moment, but you should definitely consider it in the future! I’d love to have them all hanging on my wall.
I love your work! Keep it up!! 🙂
I’m glad you do!
Autumn beautiful works!
Whether there is here a similarity?
Your work is really lovely! I stumbled across it on tumblr and was pleasantly surprised to find you’re at AUC Bournemouth as that’s one of the two options I have for studying abroad next fall. Small world, eh? Keep up the good work!
Thanks! Small world, indeed! AUCB is a great option 😉
I found your blog via tumblr… I have to say I’m amazed by your designs and photography skills! I loved what you did the Bauhaus assignment—I’m an architecture student and what you did with the card deck was GENIUS. Keep up the amazing work.
Greetings from Venezuela.
Thank you! This means a lot!
What do you consider your art style? I find your art pieces wonderful, real and magical.
I don’t think I have a style that is easy to define… I do try to explore different kinds of styles and see what is appropriate for each project 🙂
Hi – I’m glad you took the time to make a recreation of Princess Tiana. Good job.
I love this stuff. Good work and keep posting. Your photos are wonderful.

I was wondering… do you have a deviantArt.com page?
Hyvää Uutta Vuotta!
Terve! Yep, jirkavinse on deviantArt (though I am rather unactive there…) Happy New Year to you too!
Kiitos. 🙂 I see. That’s ok. I see that you have your Disney Princesses on there, too. That’s cool. Do you think you can draw a “Real Life” Kida from Atlantis: The Lost Empire sometime, please? That would be neat to see how that would look.
LOVE YOUR WORK !!
Great work on the Disney Princesses! 🙂 Kudos! 🙂 I love it! 🙂
I love your Disney princesses series – any chance you can do the Disney princes? Thanks for the great work.
Thanks 🙂 I don’t think I will be doing the princes though.
Your work is absolutely lovely 🙂 I’ve definitely bookmarked your wordpress and hope to see more!
I hope to go to Finland one day too ^_^
Keep up with the amazing pieces!
Thanks! You should definitely visit Finland 🙂
Your work has been featured here

Gosh, I look at your art and I am just… submerged.
Hey, I was just wondering if you used photographs for your disney princesses?
And also, would you mind if I used your work as part of a research page in my sketchbook for my art A level? You wuld be credited of course.
Thanks, i really love your work :’)
Yes, I blend and mix together elements from dozens of different photos – and I paint digitally as well. And feel free to use my work for research purposes! 🙂
Okay thank you just wanted to know as I have to write about techniques used in my research :’)
I thought you’re a girl, lol… And your works are very awesome!! I like them so much^_________^
Haha, a lot of people seem to think that 😀 Thanks though!
Te felicito por tu trabajo.. es fascinante.. tenes un don.. y comparto tu gusto por la fotografía.. suerte y éxitos en tus futuros proyectos 🙂
Looking at your Disney princess portraits take me back to my childhood. I used to imagine what they would look like in real life. They are BEAUTIFUL. You are a fantastic artist. Keep up the good work.
Thank you !
I didn’t that people can manipulate pictures on such a high level! So thank u for showing me (and not only me, of course) this new universe. I was really impressed how u put a girl’s face and hair over the statue, maybe because my work has to do with statues, and if I was so good with Photoshop, one of my projects would have been far, far more impressing. Well, at least, now I know of new possibilities. So, thank u 🙂
p.s. I also like the Disney princesses. Marvelous! But my favorite princess is not from Disney – it’s Princess Anastasia. Do u like her?
take care 🙂
Hi! Thank you for the comments 🙂 I have never actually seen Anastasia, so I don’t have an opinion on her.
my absolute favorite princess is Kida from “Atlantis The Lost Empire. ” In the film she seems to almost have dread locks. I dont know what your plan is for your princess collection, but if you ever planned on doing the more obscure individuals not as commonly mentioned in the disney princess line up it would be great to see her.
love our work!!!
Thanks for the suggestion! I have not seen the movie yet though!
Honestly i dont like mostly any art or anything like that its just boring to me…. but your photos of those princesses are AMAZING really there beautiful! The best ones i have ever seen…could you make more of them?…keep up the Great work and you will go far…i no you will.
Thank you! That means a lot. I will be sure to consider doing more once I find some spare time 🙂
Hey! Can I make some suggestions for princesses you might like to paint? Here is a list of some that i haven’t seen on your website:
1.Merida (from the new movie Brave)
2.Tiger Lily (from Peter Pan)
3.Tinker Bell (from Peter Pan)
4.Kidagakash (from Atlantis: the Lost Empire)
5.Eilonwy (from the Black Cauldron)
6.Anastasia (from the movie Anastasia)
Just trying to help! 😉
Thank you for the suggestion. I will be sure to consider these after I can find some spare time 🙂
Hello. How would I go about getting some of your beautiful work. I would much rather have your version of Disney Princesses hanging on my daughter’s wall.
Hi there. Unfortunately I am not providing prints of these at the moment. I am sorry! This because I’m not sure whether I could get into trouble with breaching copyright, since these are heavily influenced by the Disney brand. Thanks for taking the time to comment though 🙂
Your work is beautiful,You are going to go places.Very talented and please make a design with Ariel from the little mermaid.Never give up on being creative. : }
Thanks! I already have made Ariel though 😉
Yeer-ka” with a rolled R. Haven’t heard this name yet, but it’s great! Onnittelut saavutuksistasi!
That’s right! Thank you 🙂
He can even levitate? Damn, this dude is kool.

Hei! Thank you! Haha, Finnish people sure are cool! I think I have actually seen Teppo’s work before! Thanks for the tip 🙂

I especially love your Disney pictures! They are amazing and you’re very very talented. I was wondering if you could bring Giselle from Enchanted to life?
Thank you! I have never seen the movie, but I thought she was already played by a real actress?
Your work is so amazing ! Best wishes from Belgium
Todella upeita kuvia! Kiitos, että jaat nämä katsottavaksi ja ihailtavaksi. Toivottavasti eksyilet vielä Suomeen joskus!

Thank you so much! This means a lot to me 🙂
The Disney Princesses are absolutely stunning, but now that you’ve done a Belle, you’ll have to do a Beast 🙂 Perhaps even a Gaston?
Thank you! But again, I don’t think I will ever find the time and motivation to do the guys…
Hello! I’m from Japan. Your work is really amazing!
I share a few pictures. I wanted to introduce on My Facebook.
Is it ok?
If you’re a nuisance, the image will be removed immediately.
Keep up the good work!
Hello! And thank you. But if you want to share my work, please credit me and link back to me.
Yes, of course! Thank you!!
Hello, I love your work! Was wondering if you have any tips on how to make it out there as a graphic designer/illustrator. I am currently studying 2nd year of computer animation in Teesside.
Also Finland is fantastic!
thanks for reading, and keep beig awesome! 🙂
Hi there! Thanks, I’m glad you like my work. To make it as a graphic designer, I would definitely suggest you taking a course in graphic design. Graphic design as a discipline, is so broad that studying and working hard will never hurt! But if you’ve a unique point of view, doing your own thing could turn out to be more beneficial than a degree 🙂
Jirka You are Extremly talented! You should really get noticed. @Jirka, do you think that you can create “Lilo” From the 2002 move Lilo & Stitch? That would be beyond amazing.
Thank you! But unfortunately, I don’t see myself creating her anytime soon…
Amazing work! Go finland! 😀
Thanks! Yay for Finland 😀
